Young Shooters Secured New Records in Delhi State Shooting Championship at Dr Karni Singh Ranges

Fareed Ali New Delhi ,The rifle pistol events of the 35th Delhi State Shooting Championship came to an end last evening. The competition was organized by the Delhi State Rifle Association at India’s largest shooting range in which young shooters set a number of new records, with Arpit Goyal scoring 589 in the Rapid Fire Pistol event breaking the national record.

DSRA Secretary Rajiv Sharma said that this time more than 1000 shooters have taken part in the Delhi State shooting, this number is almost double than last year. This time a match for children under twelve years has also been made. Shooting craze is on a steady rise in Delhi, young shooters like Harsh Gupta won 16 medals including 13 gold, Shaurya Sarin won 13 medals including 9 gold and Agneya Kaushik won a total of ten medals and attracted everyone.

Famous DCP of Delhi Police Special Cell, Sajeev Kumar Yadav also won three medals including one gold in this match. His film Batla House has recently been released, in which he is played by John Abraham. Sanjeev is going to represent India in the Masters Shooting Championship to be held in Germany next month.

Delhi Government’s Former Cabinet Minister Haroon Yusuf encouraged the shooters by giving away medals here and expressed a desire to learn the shooting himself.
Rajya Sabha MP from Delhi Sanjay Singh arrived here to honor the shooters, he also tried his hand at shooting and shot accurately with a rifle. He said that Abhinav Bindra won the Gold Medal in the Olympics and honored the country and continuously the shooters of India are illuminating the name of the country worldwide.

Farid Ali, Joint Secretary and Journalist of Delhi State Rifle Association said that as the youth are coming forward in the shooting game in Delhi and the numbers are increasing continuously, we should build more shooting ranges in Delhi. We have a world class Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi, but most of the days there is some competition, or national training camps going on here, along with shooter training from all over the country, having come, especially from the states of North India. which makes the new shooters difficult to practice. Farid asked MP Sanjay Singh to make a demand for another big shooting range from the Delhi government, Where Delhi shooters are given preference, so that more world class shooters can be prepared from Delhi.

In the 10 meter rifle women’s event, Aishwarya Gupta won the gold medal with 622.2 points, Niyati Khanna won the silver medal with 617.7 points, while Parul Sharma had to settle for bronze with a score of 617.4. In the youth category of this event, Ritambra Das won the gold medal by scoring 609, while Dharani Sharma also scored equal but got the silver medal, Diksha Mathur won the Bronze medal by scoring 605.3,
In the 10m pistol men event, Harsh Gupta won the gold medal by scoring 576, Anmol Arora got silver on 575 and Shaurya Sarin 574 won bronze medal.
In the 25 meter center fire pistol event, Arpit Goyal won the gold medal, Agneya Kaushik won the silver and Special Cell’s DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav won the bronze medal, scoring 564, 559 and 556 respectively.
In the 25m Sport Pistol event, Ishika Singh won the gold medal, Loveleen Kaur won silver medal and Mahima Singh won bronze medal, scoring 566, 558 and 554.
Tarun Yadav, Ritesh Tanwar and Abhi Kumar Goel won Gold Silver and Bronze Medals in the 50m Three Position Rifle Men event, scoring 1146, 1132 and 1124.

Former Delhi High Court Chief Justice Manmohan Sarin, MLA Pawan Sharma and former IRS officer Pooran Chand Pandey also arrived here to cheer on the Delhi shooters. DSRA Vice Chairman Shakun Bhugra, Treasurer Jaspal Singh Marwah, Governing Body Members Ishwinderjit Singh, Anupam Kamal, Samreen Syed, Falak Sher Alam, Gaurav Sarin, Achal Sehgal, Rajendra Sharma along with Range Officers Deepak Kumar Dubey, Gangadhar Sharma, Amit Koslia, Loveleen Kaur, Neeta Sharma, Naresh Chaudhary and Ravinder Kumar were also present at the medal distribution ceremony.
