Security Skills and Leadership Summit-2018 sets another milestone for the holistic growth of PSI

Bharat Chauhan ,New Delhi, 17 November 2018:After a euphoric start at PHD House, August KrantiMarg, HauzKhas, New Delhi, the second day of Security Skills and Leadership Summit-2018, 13th Annual Conference of CAPSI & APDI was full of intellectual excitement when discussions were made on some of the highly sensitive issues related to the condition of guardsmen of present times. The Day-2 started with the discussion session Housing for the Security guards – PM AwasYojana (PMAY) where the eminent team of panellists discussed on various factors that have been affecting the guardsmen from providing their families with proper housing facilities despite having a job in one of the largest employment sectors of India. Governor A R Kohli was the Chief Guest and ShShahnawajHussain, Former Union Minister and spokesperson of BJP was Chief Guest at the Valedictory function. Sh NC Padhi, former Secretary Security Govt of India and General BalbirSandhu also graced the occasion with their presence.

After the discussion Dr. Chand Mani Sharma, Director, Ministry of Housing,announced, “In June 2015, Indian government started PradhanMantriAwasYojana both for rural and urban areasto make it better for homeless people in India.CAPSI is helping security agencies to get affordable housing by associating with builders for EWD Scheme. We have targeted 1 crore houses by 2020 with the investment of 3.35 lakh crore. Security Guards are eligible for getting affordable houses as they have annual salary of 3 lakhs and can get subsidiary. State government is given more power to start the project and provide affordable houses.”

The next session was An Economic Assurance Cover for the family of Guards where the speakers expressed their concerns on the financial crisis that erupts in the lives of family members whose sole bread-earner faces sudden death while on duty. This was followed by the session titled- Promoting Second Generation of Security Professional – Security Management Courses –A CAPSI initiative wherein the speakers discussed the need of proper education and training arrangements for the Private Security Industry (PSI).

To promote the 2nd generation of security professionals with all the education, training and placement support, Kunwar Vikram Singh, Chairman, CAPSI announces, “We will be providing the children of security supervisors with BBA in security management – a 3 years course in collaboration with Noida International University (Noida). Arrangements are also being made to finance the education of bright students with special scholarships from SSSDC and Noida International University will also give the scholarship. To further support their costs of education, Nationalized banks are being approached to provide soft loans which are payable in 20 years.”

Next was the session on IPR & Brand Protection Strategies where panellists brought to light various new tricks & tactics that security supervisors can adopt in their IPR & Brand Protection duties. Finally, the session ended with a highly interactive QnA round with the audience where many crucial issues of the guardsmen were discussed and solved.

Sh Shahnawaj Hussain, Former Union Minister and spokesperson of BJP said, “Security Agencies are biggest man force providers but people are unaware of the efforts of private security industry. Duty and rights go hand in hand in private security. To ensure betterment of security guards, all necessary steps should be taken. All the best for this initiative and hope this will help in long run.”
