4 Delhi School Kids will go Korea

Bharat Chauhan Delhi ,Korean Cultural Center India organized 4th Korea-India Friendship quiz contest’ – one of the biggest quiz contest on international theme of Delhi NCR with the participation of 23,433 students from 60 Schools. Top 4 winners will go to Korea for six days and five nights trip. 20 other students received cash prizes of Rs. 51,000 and trophies.

The quiz was on various aspects of history and culture and general knowledge about Korea, as well as growing bilateral relationship between India and Korea. 24 finalists were selected from among 600 semi-finalist students. Only 8 of which made their way into the grand finale.

Mr. Kim Kum-pyoung, Director, Korean Cultural Center India, said that India and Korea share a strong bond in the areas of culture, heritage, and business. He also mentioned that strengthening the youth connect between both the nations will give this bilateral relation a much stronger base.

The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency, Ambassador of Republic of Korea to India, Mr. Shin Bong-kil. During his speech he encouraged the participants by saying that young people are future of a country and they do play an important role in building bridges of cooperation and friendship with another country. “I am confident that they all will be torch-bearers of Korea-India friendship in days to come”, he said.

The initiative was started by KCCI in 2016 with the aim of strengthening Korea – India relationship through spreading awareness and knowledge among Indian youth.

First prize winner, Akshat Singh from Birla Vidya Niketan said that he was motivated to learn about Korea because of his fascination with Korean culture and its similarities with Indian culture.

Second prize winner, Devansh S Panwar from Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai said that now going to Korea had become a reality thanks to his victory won by hard work.

Third prize winner, Saumik Shashwat from Amity International School, Mayur Vihar said technological prowess of South Korea motivaed him to learn more about Korea, which led him to this victory.

Fourth prize winner, Devanshi Vashisht from Delhi Public School. Vasant Kunj said she had always fantasized about going to the land of K-pop and now it has come true.

The annual quiz competition inaugurated in 2016 had around 10,000 student’s participation in the first year. This year the huge participation has not only raised the bar but also made a tough room for winners. Students were well versed on subjects like K-pop, K-drama, and Korean delicious food while aware of close ties between India and Korea over culture and diplomatic relationship.

Some prominent names of schools that participated are Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, KR Manglam World School. Greater Kailash, Amity School, and DPS Vasant Kunj.
