SPEFL & EA signs MoU To promote world-class sports fitness at the grass root level in India

Sports , Physical Education , Fitness and Leisure Skills council( SPEFL-SC) & amp, Europe Active (EA) workforce development have signed an MoU. This MoU has been signed with the purpose of formulating a national register of fitness professionals to aggregate the efforts for employable workforce development and Institutional Capacity Building of the existing training facilities of the country.

The certified fitness trainers will be eligible to take up the role of fitness experts at schools across the country, thus, highlighting the importance of fitness in sports and training the kids at grassroots level with improved techniques. This will help an individual cater to the global standards.

On the ocassion, Shri. Radhey Shyam Julaniya, (Secretary, Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports) said, “Fitness has always been an extremely important part of sports and sports fitness is being taken up as an integral part of our strategy to do better in the future Olympic Games & other international tournaments. In the current scenario, policy changes are a major requirement for achieving excellence in sports and for this; we need to take some drastic steps. Standardized training facilities, operating procedures for coaches are the need of the hour to maintain the international standards and to compete at the international level.”

The programme is a futuristic approach to fulfill the long-term objective of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) to achieve 50 Olympic medals in a single edition of the quadrennial Games. This programme will act as a catalyst for junior athletes aspiring to represent the country.

Getting associated with global fitness curriculum, certification on various sports and fitness sector courses and facilitating the mobility of Indian youth to other countries for employment in the sports sector are a couple of more objectives that the associations plans to fulfill. The event was graced by great dignitaries in the field of sports like Mr Bhupender Dhawan ( First Dronacharya Awardee) and Mukesh Singh ( Mr Olympia in Power lifting).
