Bharat Chauhan NEW DELHI, The SADD has taken an extremely serious note of DSGMC president MS Sirsa’s statement that seeks to set the Sikh community on a collision course with Indian state.

In his statement, Sirsa is heard recommending that gurdwaras surrender their wealth — in gold and cash — to the Modi government to help it sail through the Covid-induced economic stress.

“This is a clear attempt to create communal unrest and cause disaffection between communities and state. He has touched the raw nerve, the Sikh community’s bitter experiences with the Indira Gandhi government in the 1980s,” SADD chief Paramjit Singh Sarna said. “The motives are nefarious. We, therefore, are requesting the Modi government and the BJP leadership to issue a clarification with regard to the state’s position on wealth of gurdwaras and temples.”

The SADD made a strong demand for immediate prosecution of Sirsa under the National Security Act for his malicious attempts to create communal disaffection with Indian state.
