GD Goenka University Celebrates its 4th Annual Convocation

Bharat Chauhan New Delhi, GD Goenka University hosted its 4th Convocation Ceremony on Wednesday, 20th February 2019 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath. The ceremonies were marked by the presence of esteemed guests and parents of the graduating students. Mrs. Renu Goenka, Hon’ble Chancellor, GD Goenka University, and Mr. Nipun Goenka, M.D, GD Goenka Group were also present at the event.
A total of 421 students across 9 schools of specializations namely Engineering, Management, Law, Humanities and Social Science, Hospitality, Communication, Education, Architecture and Planning and Fashion and Design were conferred undergraduate, postgraduate degrees and post graduate diplomas, during the ceremony. 24 meritorious students also received gold, silver and bronze medals for academic excellence. The University also conferred its first doctorate degree on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, chief guest Shri Pranab Mukherjee congratulated the students on their achievement also advising them to hone the art of being a student for life and never cease to learn new concepts, technologies and ways of dealing with challenges. He also appreciated the University for its commitment towards quality education and instilling innovative and entrepreneurial temperament among students to take the responsibility of national development.
Guest of Honor Shri Ghanshyam Tiwari in his address said, “Convocation is a special day. It’s a day to announce our aspirations to build a career for self and society. It’s a day to believe in your class. I am here to support and strengthen your self-belief. May you succeed by yourself and with one another.”
Presenting the annual report of the University Prof. (Dr.) Suku Bhaskaran, President, GD Goenka University said, “Our University continues its commitment towards social transformation, by providing free higher education opportunities to deserving underprivileged students. We have continued and extended our collaboration with the NGO ‘Udayan Care’, under their ‘Udayan Shilini Fellowship’ programme, in addition to six girls being provided 100% free education including transportation facilities, by GD Goenka University last year, this year we have provided admission to 6 more girls in the current academic session taking the total number to 12.”
Prof. Dr. S. Shantha Kumar, Pro Vice Chancellor, GD Goenka University shared his happiness on the occasion “It is the occasion for pride and celebrations not just for the graduating students but also for the entire GD Goenka family. We are also excited to award our first doctorate this year hence concreting our long term commitment towards quality research.”
The convocation ceremony was a landmark occasion, a time when graduates, family members, friends, and lecturers gathered to celebrate the past and future. The ceremony provides parents, family and friends the opportunity to celebrate significant contribution and success of GD Goenka University graduates.
